I think if I’ve learned anything about friendship, it’s to hang in, stay connected, fight for them, and let them fight for you. Don’t walk away, don’t be distracted, don’t be too busy or tired, don’t take them for granted. Friends are part of the glue that holds life and faith together. Powerful stuff. Buy a blank notebook. Draw a huge heart on the cover. Don’t write anything negative in here. If you need another outlet, make a separate notebook. This one is all about love, personal growth, and getting back up. Fill it with beautiful images, reaffirming thoughts, and quotes. Write in it every day, and each day write one thing you’re grateful for in your life. Kim: Advice from a Mermaid in a Manhole (via julie911) Saturday Jan 1 @ 09:57pm
People aren’t always what you want them to be. Sometimes they disappoint you or let you down, but you have to give them a chance first. You can’t just meet someone and expect them to be everything you’re looking for and then be angry when they’re not every hope and aspiration you projected onto them. It’s foolish to believe that someone will be what you imagine them to be. And sometimes, when you give them a chance, they turn out to be better than you imagined. Different, but better. I hate it when people say they’re trying to be your friend. You shouldn’t have to try to be somebody’s friend. Either you like someone or you don’t. Either you want them as a friend or not. Making friends isn’t like trying for the lead in the school play. Emily Wing Smith (Back When You Were Easier to Love) Friday Jan 1 @ 09:09pm

If you are silent about your pain, they’ll kill you and say you enjoyed it. Zora Neale Hurston (via grrrlstudies) Tuesday Jan 1 @ 09:43pm

Sometimes at night in bed I dream, dream of all my life could be and all I could do. I think about my future and the possibilities that lay before me. There is always a moment in this thought. A moment where I realize that in order to do it all, in order to really live and not merely exist, I cannot go on living the way I have done. I must fight it with all my strength. She wasn’t bitter. She was sad, though. But it was a hopeful kind of sad. The kind of sad that just takes time. The Perks of Being a Wallflower (via mi-deum) Tuesday Jan 1 @ 08:45pm
